Mill Wheel Ice-Cream Shop, Metroprima Kepong

So after the steamboat dinner, fetched the girlfriends for a supper, dessert. Located at Metroprima area, and I remember this shop was being interviewed by one of the tv food programme. We tried, and it was really good or at least better than what I expected.

Basically, they served dessert which is very snowy, I think you will understand better if you have been there.

Chocolate Snow, RM5.90. Very chocolatey!!

Chocolate Parfeit, RM7.90. With cookies on it.

Mango Cheese which tastes really great but I dislike the yoghurt-like cheese underneath it, RM5.90.

*Thumbs up!* I really quite like this shop, will definitely return there someday. When??? Hopefully soon. =)

The Ketam Village Steamboat @ Waterfront

22/8/08
Went for dinner with the girlfriends at Waterfront, it was my first time eating out at this steamboat restaurant. I personally think that it is like no other steamboat, which means I find it rather simple and common. Somehow, it still not that bad. We ordered a single combo and another double combo, as well as two other ala carte which I forgotten to take pictures. Oopsiee!

The Steamboat Ketam Village. Okay la, I know you can read that.

Single combo, about RM15.90!? Correct me if I'm wrong, not too sure with the price.

Double combo ermm, around RM28.90? Really not sure.

I'm really hopeless, check out the price if you really want. Don't trust me so much. But I remember it was around that range la. Oh ya, not to forget. They served tomyam soup as well, very sour but not so spicy. Service was satisfying, and we were well air-conditioned. Hmm, that's all I guesss.

'Tim Pan KorKor' Hong kong Dessert, Metroprima Kepong

Went for dessert at a HK dessert shop at Kepong area. At the beginning, me and the sister entered the wrong shop. Realising that we entered a cafe shop instead of dessert shop, we left that shop (HAHA) and found the right one. Well, sad to say that the menu was all written in Chinese and we don't know how to read at all. Get a boy to become the translator, he described each and every of the dessert well.

I'm not fully stupid, still know how to read the word 'kor kor'. Nothing to be proud of being a partial banana like me.

All the desserts looked so good, can't really make up my mind. And I would say the price wasn't that reasonable but worth it as for the food quality.

The menu were all in Chinese, it would be better if you could bring along friends who can read and understand Chinese. No English nor Malay description. Come on, this is M'sia. How can this happen?

Okay, I don't know what you call this (fa sang wu + hak zhi ma??). But still, it tastes good though they did not combine it nicely. RM6.50

My favourite Mango Hor Fun! A bowl of hor fun which is made of coconut milk and flour topped with sweet mango! RM7.50

Even Karmen just went there and tried their Mango Hor Fun, she said thumbs up too!!! Don't know la, I just likeeee it so much! Waaaaa, so nice! Perfecto! Woootssssss~!!!

The hor fun was very fine and smooth that eventually, I can slurp it into my big mouth! =)

The desserts were all scrumptious and damn mouth-watering. No taxes are included. That's the nett price. Location...erm, just opposite the horrible German Cuisine I blogged previously. Why not give a try? ;)

Stadt German Cuisine & Bistro

Had dinner with my family at Stadt German Cuisine somewhere at Kepong Metroprima. It was just 10mins drive from my house and the dinner was a disappointing one! They served mainly pork, especially pork knuckle. I was expecting it to taste at least 50% like the pork knuckle I once had in German a few years back *best served with black forest cake with rum!* Considering that I'm living in Malaysia, I don't have high expectation on the pork and of course, it is impossible to taste 100% similar.

Back to Stadt Cuisine, their service sucks! That place was almost full. They have so many waiters and waitress yet it was so difficult to get someone to place an order for us. Really difficult! And how dare they still wanna charge us for service tax which I think it is not worth paying at all.

Pork Cordon Bleu - shallow fried rolled pork escalop stuffed with bacon rasher, turkey ham, melted cheese served with mixed vegetables - RM22.90.

Mother claimed that my dish looked good, without controlling herself she immediately ate my vegetable and poured on chilli sauce. Let me review this dish.
1) The pork was overcooked!
2) The so called 'mashed potato' doesn't taste like mashed potato at all. Not fine and smooth. Taste more like cooked pebbles to me.
3) The mixed vegetable was cold, and I don't know which part of my dish looked tempting.

Grilled and roasted pork chop served with mashed potato and mixed vegetables - RM22.90.

BBQ spare pork ribs with glazed honey - bbq roasted pork ribs glazed with honey and bbq sauce served with mashed potato and mixed vegetables - RM22.90

German bratwurst - german juicy grilled pork sausage, saukerkaut and mustard sauce - RM17.90

Yeah, I agreed that the dining environment was not bad BUT the food served and services... Aiyo, I told my sister, 'This restaurant is slightly below average". She said "No, it is very far below average ok." Mummy said "This will be our first and also our last time." Daddy said "This is a 'one-time-go' restaurant." You know, when daddy said 'one-time-go', it means the food must be really bad cos he has never been picky / choosy over food.

Trust me, I don't exaggerate in my food blog (but yeah in my own blog HAHA). It is a food blog, meant to review food. I was quite angry when I google out the restaurant's food review and to my surprise, the reviews were all great! It was a joke of the day to me. Go here and here. I don't understand them and I'm wondering if they are paid to do so.

I googled others review and in a few blogs, someone actually commented about this German Cuisine. That particular person seems to be the same person who commented on all other food blog. Or perhaps, I am too 'sensi', I mean senstitive.

My eldest sister suggested we should try Bavarian Bierhaus at The Curve *hmm, is that obvious enough that I rather promote a restaurant which I never been before!*, a German cuisine as well. And mummy suggested that we should search for food at K.L rather than such place. Sad to say, the suckness of this restaurant gave me a very bad impression on the whole Kepong Metroprima area although there are so many other dessert shop and restaurants there.

And I don't understand why the tv program 'One Day Five Meal' tend to visit most of the restaurants at the same Kepong area and her review was always thumbs up! I'm really wondering if all the food she recommended tastes good.

Jack's Place, One Utama

the other day... my soh poh kuisan wanted to treat me a belated birthday lunch..
so she decided to bring me to the Jack's Place in one utama since i never tried b4..
we went in with two other friend, Darshana and Chooi Yee ..

we flipped through the menu.... the prices are quite expensive so we choose the set lunch that comes with a cream soup, main course and a scoop of ice cream..

san and darsh ordered ****************** and i ordered ******************

our soup came first.. mine was cream soup
this was not nice at all.. so dun expect me to say much bout this soup.

san's mushroom soup

better than mine ofcourse.. BUT this is a very very average taste mushroom soup.. me n san even agreed that our homemade campbell soup could even tasted better.. =.="

Next was san's and darsh's dish, deep fried chicken with ******* sauce

tasted a little and it was not bad for me.. San thinks that this dish quite suckie and hence, she categorizes this post under 'Yuckie' category!

and then mine came....

dory fillet with calamansi sauce.. it looks nice but tasted HORRIBLE.. REALLY HORRIBLE! Its just so YUCK >.<
i took two bites and thats it.. i really couldnt accept it..
so i call the waiter and told them i really really couldnt accept the taste of the sauce at all..

And the waiter changed a new dish for me which is okay okay only, same dish as san and darsh but mine is not deep fried chicken la.

Overall, Jack's Place set lunch is a waste of my money and never in my life I will return to this place for the set lunch, NEVER.

Sushi Zanmai @ 1 Utama

We finish coll at 1.30 on fridays.. Ofcourse have to find for some entertainment rite.. keke ^^
Me, san and chooi yee wanted to have our lunch at sushi zanmai since me n sansan haven tried their food yet..

heard lotz of rave bout sushi zanmai.. san said wanna critisize them 'kau kau' if their food not nice bcuz too much ppl raving bout them ady @.@ .. eeyer.. so scary..

kaka anywayz.. it was not really packed *luckily* at that time, so we dun have to queue up. Got our seats and flip through the menu instantly..

The menu is almost 85% the same as rakuzen's menu except that they have very very limited zen, which means set in japanese. and also another major difference is their price...
I used to wander how can they have almost the same menu but zanmai's price are all almost half the price of rakuzen's. They r under the same headquarters summore le.. @.@
BUT, its true.. Cheap price doesnt means its really 'cheap' if u noe wat i mean..
BCUZ... they cut the price into half, the serving aso they cut half T.T
where can liddat....... sobz...

i was contemplating between the unagi lunch box which is ard RM15++ or salmon sashimi lunch box which is RM 9.90. U think itz cheap?? think again cuz the bowl they use to serve is onli the size of our bowl of rice (mayb even smaller T.T) with 5 pieces of EXTREMELY THIN SLICE of salmon. T.T T.T T.T T.T

actually the salmon was not bad but bcuz of their stinginess >.< style="color: rgb(51, 51, 255);">I personally think the salmon doesn't taste that great, not salmoney enough... sound so pathethic .. wat to do, too thin slice ady ..

i ordered another of my favouritiezzz, chuka idako ( seasoned baby octopus) i noe lotzzzz of u out there dun like.. i used to hate this too.. but after trying it again, i FELL IN LOVE WITH IT :D haha.. The baby octopus they serve was not bad just average..

Theobroma Chocolate Lounge @ 1 Utama

me n san saw this shop renovating ard like April or May i guess..
its located opposite topshop and warehouse,
the poster looks damnnnn tempting to chocolate lovers lo!! ^.^
they opened for about a month already.. not bad, hehe i dun have to wait so long .. keke

last friday after college me, san and thira went over to try their chocolate out..
reached there around like 2 pm..
we went there straight n get ourselves comfortably in their seats..
their environment is quite nice also
but its self-service =.= ..

only me n kuisan wanna share n eat, hence we can onli order one :(
seriously everything on their menu looks GOOD!!!
summore their price still considered ok.. not very very expensive like 20++ or 30++

We ordered

1) Belgian Waffle RM 14.90

ok ok i noe this pic isnt a very good job but it really tasted good ^^
the chocolate wasnt very thick.. but just nice to go with the taste of the waffle and strawberry..
wont make u feel so thirsty too..

2) Little Jane (i forgot the exact name)*paiseh* >.< RM 5.90

this was a bit surprising because its so so so small..
the cup was really really petite.. the picture in the menu cheated us >.< onli 3 marshmallows le .. but pic showed 7 to 8 marshmallows so pitiful la.. but the chocolate is very very concentrated.. i feel it tasted damn good also.. san dun dare drink so much bcuz she scared heaty.. hehe..

then out of sudden sumone said

' i NEED to order a drink also la.. looking at both of u eat is so tempting '

wuiyoh!!! even thira cannot resist.. hahahaha he ordered

Snow White Frappe RM 12.90

i felt this is a bit overpriced for a drink.. but it tasted reli nice to me also..
die la.. cant get enuf of the chocolates there .. but broke ady >.< how how???

Tony Roma's, The Curve

I will do the updates since Xtine is so lazyyy, you watch out! So last Saturday we had class gathering at Tony Roma's, The curve on the 19th of July 2008. It was quite awesome though, still okay. Spent damn a lot on that day itself, die lar! Already so broke, still need to spend till I burn a big big hole in my own pocket. DAMN!

Somehow, I just feel this picture should look better than it is. Trust me, it doesn't look that suckie in reality. Chocolate Sundae Avalanche Martinis - RM12.90; chocolate brownies with chocolate syrup and scoop of vanilla ice-cream.

Onion ring, Xtine's all time favourite! - Okie, so shit! Forgotten the price. More or less about RM12.90 too. *she loves the sauce!*

Tony Roma's is okay, I won't say it is heavenly but not too bad also. And I personally feel the price i slightly too expensive, not so reasonable. ~ A shop more to American style~

PHOP @ The Curve (re-re-revisit)

Had our dinner at Paddington, The Curve. Serious, no joke we love it. Service was quite good, it's just that the staff look quite pervert and he walked very near to you while talking. I should give him a warning, else his saliva will spit all over my face. HAHA =) I'm such a meanie. Ok enough.

As a reminder, a small glass of water costs 50cents and it is not refillable nor bottomless. So bear in mind of that before you order H2O.

Double G Sausage - RM22.50. Sorry, I can't remember G stands for what.

Okie, I serious love this dollar pancakes. Chocolate Chippies Banana - RM12.50

San Francisco, it was actually dory fillet - RM20.50

Tokyo - RM18.50. We feel that One Utama's branch Tokyo dish taste better.

They topped something which looks really like hamster faeces on mashed potato. Wait, we did asked them what's it but I forgotten what you called it. Xtine feels that it looks like tavia.

Overall, no comments and it was just great. Don't know la, I like! =)

PHOP rerevisit

been slacking a little ady >.<
cuz i always go out and there is hw to be done..
no time to write..

anyways on monday night, i went 1utama with my bf to get a pair of wedges..
so i decided to bring him to PHOP too since he haven tried b4..
we already ate dinner so our meal at PHOP will be a light one.. ^^

We ordered one dish onli.. but that one dish already satisfied both our appetite since we onli wanted something light and sweet.^^

we ordered POT OF GOLD

hehe.. this is quite a simple dish but it still tasted reli nice ^^
there's mini dollar pancake, marshmallow, ice-cream, nuts and CHOCOLATE !!
its ard RM 12

PHOP (revisit)

Yeah, I finally revisit PHOP just for their pancakes. And found out that it's called Sweet Dipping Dollars, not Sweet Dipping Chocolate. Came with three different dippings of caramel, peanut butter and chocolate; and ample of little dollar pancakes with slices of banana and apricots with peanuts. And yeah, with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream topped with strawberry jam. =)

Sweet Dipping Dollars - RM17.00

Waaa, not bad la me. At least I returned there and got a taste of the pancakes that I've longed since my last visit. I like banana! Dipped it with chocolate. Eat it together with dollar pancakes. Tasted so GOOD! I like!

Paddington House of Pancake

4th July 2008
Finally had our brunch at PHOP @ One Utama branch. It was indeed a fantabulous brunch and we really enjoyed it. Quite a great recommendation though! ;p The menu is so thick and heavy, flipped and flipped and flipped, made me feeling ordering this , and that and everything. Okay, enough of exaggeration. As I know, they are famous for pancakes!

Well, Xtine ordered ....... Pannekoek. And it tasted great. Except for the raw vegetable which taste so raw-y. Got such word? Ahaha, whatever. The smashed potato was very fine and smooth.

Xtine : this tasted really nice except for the vegetable wrapped up in flour (issit flour?) bcuz it tasted so 'empty' i meant it was so tasteless ofcourse.. hehe n this dish is called TOKYO (RM 18.50)

I wanted a heavier meal and hence, decided to order Honolulu which look exactly like a crispy crust pizza with tomato, pineapple, mushroom and chicken ham toppings. And CHEESE! I personally think they came in a large proportion, or maybe not that large, just slightly more than average.

Honolulu - RM19.50

As for Karmen, she ordered pancakes which erm, I can't remember what is it called. But it was almost perfect. Pancakes with mapple syrup, banana and strawberry jam. Did I left out any?
Ya Ya, i hav to agree with san that this pancake tasted really nice.. definitely will go back for more!!!

Pancakes, not sure about it's name. I will return for Sweet Dipping Chocolate Pancake for sure!! I'LL BE BACK!

Honestly, I did not regret dining at PHOP though it was quite expensive, at least those delicious food make worth my money. And if you celebrate your birthday there, you will be rewarded a special birthday pancake. Overall, it was a great journey to PHOP. *wink*

Wendy's Bistro

24th June

I received a call from my bro saying that he wants to take me out for a lunch.

He heard of Wendy's Bistro at Sunway Mentari recently, since its so near to my coll ofcourse we went there to try out. Reached there around 1 pm.

The environment there was quite comfortable and peaceful bcuz there was very little customer inside at that time. We sat down n looked at the menu. As i was flipping through, i realize that there are no steaks served, feeling a bit disappointed, i looked for lamb but there is only one choice. They dun have many varieties of pasta there. Then only i realize that their main specialties are pork. @.@. i dont feel like ordering porks for their price (quite costly) so i got no choice but to order some chef recommendation dish other than porks.

After ordering, i looked around the restaurant and realize that the have open kitchen style. their kitchen are small. N the worst part is the chef. I dont know should i refer them as chef or maids.. bcuz there are two women standing inside the kitchen who looks like indonesian maids to me.

Then i turned to my bro, "Their chef look so not professional le"

My BRo, "Erm.. "

Me, (trying to make ourselves feel better) "but never try never noe la hor"

Bro, "Yes" (can hear that he is trying to convince himself that they can cook nice food) swt =.="

It cost around RM30++. Tasted nice at first but then it got quite yucky after eating 1/2 of it.. also the salmon tasted average onli..

My brother ordered their set lunch (i forgot the price). He ordered the grilled pork belly. It tasted like our normal chinese hawkers stall char siew, even some of the hawkers char siew tasted better than theirs. Their porks are not smooth at all n its quite hard swallowing the same thing after eating quarter of the porks.

WHile we are trying real hard to force those food into our stomach, to my horror, i realize that the waiter can just walk freely into the kitchen n start cooking >.<>

Then i saw one guy so busily walking up n down ordering the waitress to do this do that, so i just stared at him because he might be the manager there. He looked back, "Hows the food? can? can?" Me n my bro looked at him with a big YUCK on our expression, "Not that good"

But he just walked away @.@ BAD!
*seriously, this shop really gonna cheat people's money. don't ever step into this shop.*

Guess that will be my first and last visit to Wendy's Bistro. First, food sucks. Secondly, Unhygienic, Thirdly, Quite costly >.<

06 July 2008

Xtine's favourite (probably San's too ^^) - RAKUZEN

Hie peeps!! ^^
this is xtine's first post!! and it so happens that today is my birthday *cheers*,
ofcourse i MUST HAVE a PERFECT meal!! I'll start of with a great dinner at rakuzen in my first post.

I'm too lucky this year for my bday cuz i manage to eat at Rakuzen yesterday and also today! *big wet eyes* haha. but both dinner with different people ofcourse, cuz i'm probably the only one around me that never gets bored with japanese food ^^

but unfortunately i din get to snap pictures for my dinner with my mom yest cuz i FORGOT *smacks forehead* =.=" but its okay, cuz yesterday's meal wasnt that great, i had it in waterfront desa parkcity bcuz its just within walking distance from my house.

But TODAY, me n my bf headed to the other branch (which i prefer better) which is located at Plaza Damas (Hartamas Shopping Centre). This is my third trip there. Firstly, this outlet's environment is much more comfortable and provides you more privacy bcuz they have small and big compartments for couples and also for families. Secondly, i personally find that the salmon here are more fresh and the food here are tastier (but no worries, the outlet at waterfront is still up to quality). Thirdly, there are lots of real japanese people coming, so i assume they will care a lot for their food's quality, and also its located in hartamas (haha i dunno y but i feel its relevant swt)

Ok Ok! Photos photos and less crappings! >.< First dish - Seasoned baby octopus * RM 10, i felt its a bit expensive bcuz of the small proportion but oh well, luckily it tasted good!*

Second dish - Salmon Sashimi Zen (My favourite not his)
*RM 30, 7 thick and juicy salmon sashimi which is VERY FRESH, couldn't have enough of them >.<. All the salmon lovers out there, this dish is a MUST!

* Itz soo thick n juicy, mmm (Mother yanx! now u understand y me n san kept raving bout the salmon in rakuzen XP) *yeah, both Xtine and San love this dish very muchie!!*

Third dish - Stamina roll
RM 28 - This dish is surprisingly large bcuz they really give u a whole roasted eel as stated in the menu @.@ there's also omelette within the rice, overall this dish is still not a bad choice ^^

Fourth dish - Chicken Terriyaki Zen
RM 28 - My bf ordered this bcuz we havent try their chicken terriyaki b4. This dish was also ok. Perhaps when it doesnt taste bad, its considered good enough already. ^^

Fourth dish - Dragon roll (this is highly recommended!! XD)
RM 28 - the dragon roll is me n my bf's all time favourite after my salmon sashimi. all thanks to my sis-in-law for recommending it haha. the taste of the fried shrimp is perfect with the avocado topping and the mayonnaise. This is another one that i couldnt get enough of it also!!! *omfg!! I freakin' lurve this dragon roll laaaa.*

it looks so wonderful rite?? ^^

That's all we ordered. Thx to the waitress who gave a such a small table so we ended up cramming everything we have in the small table >.< but i like the seats though, so small n cosy ^^ haha n we even purposely waited for all our dish to come so we can snap picture of all the dishes in one shot. look how crammed our table is ....

BUT we managed to finish up everything on our table!!! haha such appetite me n my bf have.. Our bill sum up to RM 146++. actually it's just RM126 thx to the RM20 of service charge n tax >.< After leaving Rakuzen at ard 9.30 pm, we decided to walk around the shopping centre but was surprised to see 95% of the shops are all closed ady, so early rite? but luckily we still managed to get a tiramisu from san terri cake house which is located near the escalator, on the same row as rakuzen, since i dun feel like getting a cake for my bday. The tiramisu taste nicer than the first time i tried it in san terri (manjalara) with san n mother yanx (haha yanxia u sound so old la)
RM 7

there goes my first post for the blog, forgive me bcuz this is my first time havin a blog and i'm not very good in explaining the taste of food in detail. And this simple blog took me almost 2 hours swt=.="

OMG i forgot to say something bout my dinner at rakuzen on saturday. Me n my mom shared a unagi to sushi zen (something like that) and also a spider roll.

Again, i can never get with unagi haha.. This Unagi to sushi zen cost RM48 and it tasted as usually NICE :) but the spider roll was disappointing to me. The soft shell crab was not as crispy as it used to taste and the crab was so meat-less. What disturbs me the most is the shell, isnt it suppose to be soft? its barely edible that i had to spit it out .. =.="

But its okay, at least the sunday dinner was very satisfying to me :)
